Secret City Excursion Train Operations Cease

It is with great regret that we have to announce the suspension of the Secret City Scenic excursion operation. We received notification earlier today from the owners of Heritage Railroad, that they would be unable to renew our Operating Agreement.

In nearly two decades of service SARM is most proud of the thousands of volunteer hours worked and tens of thousands of passengers transported safely.

The museum's extensive equipment collection is safe and we will be working on other opportunities in the future. We would like to thank the Department of Energy, CROET, Energy Solutions, the Oak Ridge Heritage Rail Authority, Walden's Ridge Railroad and the Oak Ridge community for their years of support in this endeavor.

All pre-paid reservations have been refunded. 

Museum volunteers continue work on restoration and preservation of our equipment collection. Please consider becoming a member if you would like to know about opportunities for “hands-on” restoration work.

Online ticket sales via credit/debit cards now available

We are pleased to announce that we can now take credit/debit cards for train tickets online. We do not yet have the ability to process credit/debit cards at Wheat station or onboard in the commissary but we will soon. Thanksgiving Train Rides

We have several special events planned for the Friday and Saturday train rides after Thanksgiving.

We are having a special "Black Friday" 20% off all non-food items in the gift shop on the 11am train only. This is a great opportunity to get some special Christmas presents for yourself or others. 

We will also have a special guest car host - Dr. Bart Jennings. Dr. Jennings is professor of supply chain management at Western Illinois University and was part of team that started the Secret City Scenic Railroad. He has a decade of railroad experience plus more than two decades of railroad consulting and regulatory training. He has also been the convention chair or head of rail operations for NRHS (National Railway Historical Society) for conventions in Iowa, Alaska, Arkansas and Vermont, written articles published in Trains Magazine, Railfan & Railroad Magazine, Pacific Rail News, and others and has operated charter passenger trains in more than 25 states and ridden trains in almost 50 countries around the world
